Let’s Explore this summer! How about with the new book in Children’s called Maps by Aleksandra Mizielinska and Daniel Mizielinski. This large book provides an illustrated collection of maps covering the world, with details of cities, landmarks and cultural traditions for the major nations. The fun engaging illustrations create an enjoyable global exploration within your own home.


Don’t stop there on your global journey as the adult collection has marvelous titles for exploring the world such as Great Maps: A Historical Journey through maps, plans and paintings by DK Books, Historical Atlas of the American West with original maps by Derek Hayes and Medieval World: An Illustrated Atlas by National Geographic.


Animal lovers will enjoy exploring the lives of great cats in The Great Leopard Rescue: Saving the Amur Leopards by Sandra Markle. Find out how scientists and governments are working together to turn a hopeful future for Amur Leopards into a reality. Superb pictures help to illustrate all the work going into saving these magnificent cats. Also note the library has many more great non-fiction titles for kids by author Sandra Markle discussing animals and science.


Tales From the Arabian Nights: Stories of Adventure, Magic, Love and Betrayal by Donna Jo Napoli with bright, beautiful illustrations by Christina Balit is a retelling of the Arabian folk tales from One Thousand and One Nights and other collections. These stories are great dramatizations which would make a great family read aloud.


How Things Work: Discover the Secrets and Science behind bounce houses, hovercraft, robotics, and everything in between by T.A. Resler is for those explorers who think “just because” isn’t a real answer. Both quick answers and more complete explanations are given in this fantastic book.
